What does each size mean?...
A size 30" would typically mean that the belt is 30" from the point at which the leather starts (folds over at the buckle end) to the centre hole. This means that the example belt would fit an approximate circumference of 28" up to 32"
(Due to the type of leather, the size and many other factors this distance may vary by half an inch or so.)
What size should I order?...
There are a few simple, often overlooked, things to consider before purchasing a belt:
- Belts go on top of clothes. So if you are a size 30" waist don't assume a 30" belt will fit.
- There is no point in measuring your waist if you are going to wear the belt on your hips. This is a completely different size.
- Clothing sizes such as 6, 8, 10... aren't an indication of the size belt you'll need. People come in all shapes and sizes!
The best thing to do is to measure around the point at which you will be wearing a belt. e.g around your waist or through belt loops on jeans as you would a belt and order the size corresponding to this measurement. (Or an existing belt you already own that fits just right)
(If you don't have a tape measure you can use a piece of string, then measure the string with a ruler after.)
